HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Ewa Beach native and UFC strawweight contender Kailin Curran lost her UFC on FOX 20 fight against Felice Herrig on Saturday night, succumbing to a rear naked choke in the first round.
The bout, which took place inside Chicago's United Center, was Herrig's first professional fight in more than a year.
The two fighters spent much of the opening minute on their feet, but a takedown by Herrig eventually presented an opportunity to gain Curran's back. Referee John McCarthy stepped in to call the fight at the 1:59 mark of the round.
The loss drops Curran's UFC record to 1-3. All three of her losses in the organization have come via stoppage.
