Kauai County Council honors youth baseball champs

LIHUE, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Kauai County Council has recognized the Kauai Aces for being named the 2016 Hawaii Region Bronco Champions and the United States Specialty Sports Association World Champions.

Travelling all the way to Texas presented its challenges to the 12 and under Pony League team. Despite playing in 100-degree heat, the Aces managed to win three games in one day.

The team came out on top this season with a 9-0 undefeated record throughout the entire World Series tournament.

In the final game, the Kauai Aces defeated the Dulin’s Dodgers Dowell Club of Tennessee 6-0 and captured the World Series title.

The team also placed third in the tournament’s Home Run Derby.

Player Kash Akita received the World Series Offensive Player Award and Kanaan Ephan was the Most Valuable Player.

The team is preparing to leave for the Pony Zone tournament in Whittier, California.
