HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued ahead of Tropical Storm Darby, which is bearing down on the state.

The Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Maui County and the Big Island from late Friday night through Sunday evening.

The watch is in effect for Oahu from Saturday night through Monday morning, and on Kauai until Monday afternoon.

Forecasters said depending on the exact track of Darby, there’s a possibility of intense rainfall and flash flooding. Flash flooding will primarily occur along east and southeast-facing slopes.

Flash flooding could pose dangers to drivers and could also cause major property damage.
