Man-o-war influx seen on Oahu's east shore

WAIMANALO, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Ocean Safety officials are warning the public about a man-o-war influx along Oahu's east shore, particularly at Waimanalo Beach.

A significant number of people are reporting stings, officials said.

Warning signs have been posted, but the beaches remain open.

The sting from man-o-war are painful, and can leave red welts on the sting. Some may also suffer more severe symptoms.

The tentacles of a dead man-o-war are still potentially dangerous.
