HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Transparency Report counts government requests for Google search information on individuals. The new report, just out, covers the second half of last year. It counts 40,000 different requests, 5,000 more than a year earlier. The requests covered 81,000 user accounts, up 12,000 from year-before. U.S. surveillance personnel make more requests like this than any other country.
In fact, they make more than the next two nations Ireland and Germany combined. Many of the Irish government requests may be instigated by U.S. officials. A great deal of what you would consider U.S. data is stored on servers in Ireland.
