KIHEI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two visitors from the Mainland died in separate ocean incidents off Maui on Monday, officials said.
According to Maui County officials, an unresponsive male was found on the ocean floor near Black Rock in Kaanapali around 10:30 a.m. Beachgoers and emergency personnel performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation but were unsuccessful. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was identified by his wife as 67-year-old Samuel Williams, of Texas.
About two hours later, another unresponsive man was brought to shore after he was found floating in waters off Napili Bay. Beachgoers and emergency personnel also performed CPR and life-saving measures. The man was pronounced dead during transport to the Maui Memorial Medical Center.
He was also identified by his wife as 47-year-old James Guanga, of California.
No signs of foul play are suspected in either incident.
