KIHEI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 3-year-old girl suffered serious injuries after nearly drowning in a pool at a condominium in Kihei Saturday night, according to the Maui Fire Department.
Officials said a bystander saw the child unresponsive in the pool at the Maui Banyan condominium and pulled her out. An off-duty nurse provided "rescue breathing" to the child until firefighters and paramedics arrived.
Firefighters arrived around 9:20 p.m. where they found the child unresponsive but breathing on her own. She was then rushed to the hospital.
Fire officials said the child and family were visiting from Korea.
