PUPUKEA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A man and his son are hospitalized in serious condition after they were swept off the rocks at Sharks Cove, Monday afternoon.

Officials say the 43-year-old man and his 12-year-old son suffered lacerations to different parts of their bodies as they were swept off and down the rocks into the water.

Ocean Safety and firefighters responded and rescued both of them before being treated by EMS and transported to a nearby hospital.

The incident happened just days after a man and his young daughter drowned after being swept away at Makapuu tide pools.

Officials want to remind the public to stay away from the rocks if they are wet as it is a clear indicator of pounding surf going over the ledge.
