HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Forecasters are tracking Tropical Storm Estelle in the Eastern Pacific, far from the Hawaiian Islands and behind Darby.
At 5 a.m. Thursday, the center of Estelle was a distant 1,754 miles from Hilo.
Estelle's maximum sustained winds were near 60 mph with higher gusts. The storm is expected to continually gradually weaken over the next 48 hours and will likely become a post-tropical remnant low on Friday.
Estelle is moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph and is expected to continue in this direction.
Tropical storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles from the center.
Since this tropical system is far away from Hawaii, it's not known what kind of effects it will have on the islands.
