EWA BEACH, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Police are asking for leads in a brazen gunpoint robbery of a delivery truck full of cartons of cigarettes.

The suspects got away with 290 cartons of cigarette, valued at more than $26,000.

Here’s what happened: Police say on June 28 at about 8 p.m., a delivery truck driver and passenger were heading westbound on Roosevelt Avenue in Ewa Beach when a green pick-up pulled up alongside them.

The passenger in the pickup showed the delivery truck’s driver a handgun and ordered him to pull over.

When the delivery truck pulled over, its driver and passenger were ordered to get out and lie face-down on the ground.

As they did, a white sedan pulled up and its occupants ordered the victims to unlock the back of the delivery truck.

The suspects then took 35 yellow crates with the cartons of cigarettes, before fleeing in their vehicles.

The victims said the robbers wore black clothing and some type of cloth over their faces. The green pick-up was described as an “older” Nissan. The sedan had Cadillac-type rims.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call police or CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
