WAILUA, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A crash involving a Kauai County bus in Wailua sent three people, including two Australian visitors, to the hospital on Tuesday, officials said.
Police said the bus was traveling south on Kuhio Highway, near the entrance to Smith's Luau, when it broadsided a Nissan Altima that was trying to cross the highway.
The two female passengers in the back seat of the Altima, ages 60 and 16, were taken to the Wilcox Medical Center and then medevaced to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition.
The 77-year-old male bus driver was also transported to the Wilcox Medical Center but has since been released.
The 44-year-old female driver of the Altima and a 12-year-old female passenger were not injured.
All four individuals in the Altima were visiting from Kauai.
