HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A new affordable housing complex has broken ground in the Ala Moana area.
The 45-story tower, called Kapiolani Residence, will be located at 1631 Kapiolani Boulevard and will have about 485 units.
Some 292 of the units are designated as affordable and reserved for qualified Hawaii residents. The remaining units will be sold at market price.
Residences available range from studios to three bedroom units with affordable unit prices starting at $272,000.
Interested homeowners are required to attend an informational seminar where they will receive an application packet. The deadline to submit application packets and pre-qualification letters is August 31.
Approved applicants will then be entered into a drawing for available units.
The project is expected to be completed in 2018.
