HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Tropical Storm Celia weakened into a post-tropical remnant low in the Central Pacific basin on Friday.

The National Hurricane Center said at 5 p.m. that Celia was located about 752 miles from Hilo. It was moving to the west at about 13 mph.

Celia's maximum sustained winds were near 35 mph with higher gusts.

Forecasters say remnants of the storm may generate wetter conditions, higher winds and higher surf for the Hawaiian islands over the weekend.

The National Hurricane Center is also tracking another system that formed Monday just behind Celia.
