HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Former University of Hawaii pitcher, Steven Wright, became the first Rainbow Warrior to be named an MLB All-Star on Tuesday when he was named to the American League All-Star team.
Wright began the season unsure of his spot in Boston's starting rotation, and has spent the last three years bouncing between the minor and major leagues. However, he was able to establish his place among the Red Sox starters this season after a number of injuries turned into opportunity for the California native.
The Red Sox knuckleballer is currently second in the AL with a 2.42 earned runs average. He's amassed a 9-5 record with 87 strikeouts in 108 innings pitched.
The Major League Baseball All-Star game is scheduled for Tuesday, July 12th at 2:00pm HST.
