LANIKAI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Parking in Lanikai will be restricted on the Fourth of July holiday in anticipation of the Kailua fireworks show, the City and County of Honolulu said.
On Monday, parking will not be permitted on Mokulua and Aalapapa Drives from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Also, no parking is allowed on side streets from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. where "No Parking" barricades are located.
The organizers of the Kailua fireworks show are offering free parking for the event at Lanikai Elementary School, Kainalu Elementary School, Kailua Elementary School, Kailua Intermediate School, and the Macy's Parking lot. A continuous free shuttle between the event parking lots and the Lanikai General Store will be available from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The Honolulu Police Department said a portion of Kainalu Drive in Kailua will be closed between Kainui Road and Kailua Intermediate as the Kailua parade commences.
