Happy 4th! This morning's light winds will pick up after lunch and peak at 15-20 mph. That should help us deal with the expected afternoon high of 88 degrees in Honolulu.

A few passing showers throughout the day will fall mostly windward and mauka.

Put on the sunscreen and reapply several times today.

Surf is choppy and sloppy along east shores. Town is getting a few small waves, but a new south on Thursday should reach advisory levels by Friday. The National Weather Service surf forecast for your holiday: 4-6 feet east, 2-4 feet south and west, 0-3 feet north.

Small Craft Advisory for channels east of Molokai and coastal waters south and west of the Big Island.
