HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The first major hurricane of the Eastern Pacific season has become a remnant low on Sunday.
Around 8 a.m. Sunday, Post-Tropical Cyclone Blas was located approximately 1,222 miles east of Hilo. It was moving northwest at 10 mph.
Blas had maximum sustained winds near 35 mph with higher gusts. It was a much more powerful, Category 4 hurricane on Tuesday.
Forecasters say the post-tropical cyclone is expected to dissipate in a few days.
Blas is not expected to have a direct impact on the state, but could possibly send swell energy toward the islands.
Forecasters are also closely monitoring another system, located just behind Blas.
