WAIANAE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A female pedestrian died late Sunday after she was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross Farrington Highway in Waianae, Honolulu police said.
Police said the incident happened around 10 p.m. near Puhano Street when a 60-year-old driver from Waianae was driving east on Farrington Highway and collided into the woman. She was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
The woman, who has not yet been identified, was not in a marked crosswalk, officers said.
Police do not suspect speed and alcohol are factors in the incident.
This is the 27th fatal traffic incident this year. There were also 27 traffic fatalities the same time last year, police said.
The Honolulu Police Department is continuing to investigate.
