HAUULA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police have arrested a man who allegedly set fire to a home in Hauula on purpose on Saturday.
41-year-old Rodney Fonoi-Moana Jr. is the man police say caused the intentional fire, leaving a 66-year-old woman and her family without a home.
Honolulu Fire Department was alerted of a fire at a one-story single family home with smoke emanating from the inside at around 3:48 p.m.
The fire was quickly contained to the living room area and brought under control shortly after 4 p.m. All second-alarm units initially dispatched were canceled en route.
$40,000 is the estimated damage to the structure and $5,000 for its contents.
Officials say the family was offered to contact the American Red Cross, but the family declined.
