Roads reopened after Kapolei area brush fire

KAPOLEI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Strong winds challenged firefighters who were fighting two brush fires in the Kapolei area on Saturday afternoon.

One eastbound lane of the H-1 Freeway and the Kualakai on-ramp were closed, but has been reopened by the Honolulu police shortly before 5 p.m.

The fires broke out at around 2:39 p.m. and was extinguished by 4:30 p.m. The fires were about one quarter mile apart. About one acre of land was burned

HFD reports oo structures were threatened and no injuries.

The cause is currently undetermined, but officials said they will be investigating.
