LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A fugitive wanted for the 2009 murder of a 21-year-old woman in Puna was arrested Monday morning in Las Vegas, according to U.S. Marshals.
U.S. Marshals located 54-year-old Patricia Wong near Tropicana Avenue and Paradise Road. A warrant was issued, charging Wong with second-degree murder.
The charges stem from an incident on June 30, 2009 in which Kaycee Smith was found with a single gunshot wound to her head. In court documents, police said the scene was manipulated to make the killing look like a suicide.
Police on Friday issued an alert asking the public to help find Wong.
She has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center pending extradition back to Hawaii.
