PEARL CITY, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu police have arrested a 33-year-old man on Friday night for the death of Kyen Knowles in Kalihi.

Police say Brandon Reis turned himself in to the Pearl City police station at 7:15 p.m.

Reis was wanted for second-degree murder, as well as four contempt warrants. He remains in police custody.

36-year-old Knowles was killed Wednesday from suffocation and mechanical asphyxia after his car rolled on top of him.

The incident occurred in the neighborhood on Waterhouse Street, at the intersection of Kopke Street and Gulick Avenue.

Police reclassified the case as a homicide from initially a traffic accident after witness reports and security camera footage. The Medical Examiner's Office also said an autopsy showed he was shot at, but not hit by a bullet.
