Themed, "Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future," the 75th Commemoration events are designed to attract thousands of global visitors and Hawaii residents.
Centered around National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on December 7th, other ceremonies and events include Memorials dedicated to USS Utah and USS Oklahoma, the reconciliation "Blackened Canteen Ceremony" at the USS Arizona Memorial, a luncheon honoring the units of Americans of Japanese Ancestry, a Pearl Harbor documentary film premiere, historic movie series on Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor Survivor Gala Tribute, Celebration for Veterans, Active Duty Military and their families, and a culminating, world-class live concert that is being planned at Aloha Stadium.
The 75th Pearl Harbor Commemoration is chaired by Admiral Thomas B. Fargo USN (Ret.) who is leading a Blue Ribbon committee planning the ceremonial tributes and events. The 75th Commemoration is dedicated to our 'Greatest Generation,' and to those whose patriotism, ingenuity, and selfless commitment to the greater good, unites generations and instills values of leadership among our youth.
"The 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor will focus the world's attention on Hawai'i and provide a unique opportunity to honor the last of those who experienced the emotional awakening triggered on that 'date which will live in infamy' and to perpetuate those core values that they shared, " said Admiral Fargo.
With initial generous support from the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) and its global contractors, the Hawaii Visitors and Conventions Bureau, O'ahu Visitors Bureau, Pearl Harbor historic partners, military, government and business leaders welcome all veterans, retired and active service military personnel and their families, the general public, invited dignitaries, and national and state political leaders.
