HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - New campaign finance reports show Hillary Clinton with $42 million in her campaign accounts. Donald Trump's campaign has only about $1 million. Since the campaign began Trump has raised only half as much money as Mitt Romney did four years ago. Two-thirds of what Trump did raise was lending from his own finances. Up until now, this hasn't been that big a deal.
Trump and his now-fired campaign manager showed the world you could get plenty of TV exposure for free just by being unpredictable and controversial. The problem now is that the general election campaign is different. Political ads, which are expensive to put on television, now become a lot more important, and Trump will be competing with Republican candidates for Congress, who collectively have major financial needs, too.
