Authorities on Monday morning arrested a 48-year-old man accused of impersonating a police officer.

The Honolulu Police Department said Johnson Lifte identified himself as a police officer to a 31-year-old man and told him to exit his parked vehicle in Waikiki around 4:55 a.m. Lifte then entered the man’s vehicle and took his belongings without permission.

The victim then called police.

About 20 minutes later, police arrested Lifte for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle in the first degree and impersonating a law enforcement officer in the second degree.
