MAKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Authorities have launched a negligent injury investigation after a 77-year-old female pedestrian was hit by a 22-year-old driver in Makiki, Monday night.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. on Piikoi Street near the intersection of Hassinger Street.
The pedestrian was taken to the Queen's Medical Center and remains in critical condition with head and internal injuries.
Police say the woman was not in a marked crosswalk. Police also say speed and alcohol are not factors.
The northbound lane of Piikoi Street was closed during the investigation but has since been reopened.
