Kauai grand jury indicts man for meth trafficking

LIHUE, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A man was indicted by a Kauai grand jury last week for meth trafficking and other criminal offenses.

Police found 35-year-old Kanbert Alapai with more than 100 grams of methamphetamine, more than 120 grams of marijuana, and paraphernalia including three glass pipes with residue, a lighter torch, rolling paper, two scales, over twenty small plastic bags containing white crystalline substances, and $3,308.00 in small bills. 

Alapai has a history of convictions for felony forgery and criminal contempt of court.

If convicted, Alapai could face up to twenty years in prison with a mandatory minimum prison term of two to eight years with no probation.
