Forecast: First day of summer kicks off with beautiful conditions

First day of summer forecast. Light trade winds this morning, moderate to breezy trades this afternoon. Passing showers throughout the day, mainly windward and mauka.

Leeward coasts will be your best bet for blue sky. High in Honolulu will be 86 degrees. Trade wind weather will continue through the week as high pressure persists far north of the islands. Clouds and showers will favor windward and mauka areas. Passing showers will reach leeward areas during periods of stronger trades.

A series of small to moderate southwest swells are due through Thursday, with surf expected to remain below advisory levels. Moderate south shore surf will peak today and Tuesday and again with the next pulse on Wednesday.

Small Craft Advisory until 6 p.m. Tuesday for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel, Alenuihaha Channel, Big Island Leeward Waters, Big Island southeast waters.
