Flood Advisory issued for Big Island

NORTH KONA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for a portion of the Big Island until 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

The advisory was issued around 12:30 p.m. as heavy rain and thunderstorms developed over the South Kohala and North Kona districts. Radar shows rain is falling at a rate of two-to-three inches per hour and is especially heavy over Waikoloa Village.

Locations in the advisory include: Saddle Road Junction, Kamuela, Puako, Puuanahulu, Waikoloa Beach Resort and Waikii.

The advisory may be extended if heavy rain continues.
