'ELE'ELE, KAUAI (HAWAIINEWSNOW) -

Wastewater officials are advising the public to avoid the waters at Kauai’s Port Allen pump station due to a sewage overflow on Friday afternoon.

The wastewater discharge occurred due to a power failure, according to the state Department of Health.

An estimated 100 gallons flowed onto Waialo Road and into a storm drain between 12:45 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., possibly reaching harbor waters at Port Allen.

Department of Public Works said that people should avoid the waters until the cautionary signs have been removed.
