Big Island police arrest man involved in bomb threat

HILO, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - Big Island police arrested a man on Thursday afternoon who threatened to bomb a bank in Hilo.

29-year-old Russell Monlux of Hilo was charged with two counts of second-degree terroristic threatening after he passed a handwritten bomb threat to a bank teller at around 12 p.m., police said.

The bank was located in a supermarket on the 300 block of Makaala Street.

Police arrested Monlux at 1:20 p.m. and he remains in custody, with his initial court appearance set for Monday.
