HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Council Chairman Ernie Martin on Monday announced he will not run for mayor in the upcoming election.
Although he had been considering it and even pulled papers for a potential run, he said on Hawaii News Now Sunrise that he will instead remain the city council chairman. He did not specify details behind his decision.
The deadline to file for a run is June 7. Incumbent Mayor Kirk Caldwell and former Mayor Peter Carlisle already declared their candidacies.
