HONOLULU (AP) - One of two football players charged in an April 12 confrontation with authorities has pleaded no contest.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports ( charges of resisting arrest and harassment will be removed and sealed from University of Hawaii football player Kaaumoana Gifford's record if he stays out of legal trouble until Nov. 18.

His suspension from the team was lifted last week.

Prosecutors argued for a sentence of 30 days in jail and a year of probation.

Gifford and teammate Kennedy Tulimasealii were arrested after a confrontation related to a dispute with Tulimasealii's ex-girlfriend.

Tulimasealii remains suspended and is scheduled for June court appearances.

A judge also granted Gifford a deferred sentence on a separate charge of fleeing the scene of a March 14 vehicle collision.
