New leadership named for US Army Garrison-Hawaii

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS (HawaiiNewsNow) - New officers have assumed leadership for United States Army Garrison-Hawaii (USAG-HI) on Friday.

Colonel Stephen E. Dawson was named garrison commander for USAG-HI at a change of command ceremony on Friday at Schofield Barracks' Weyand Field.

Dawson is effectively becoming responsible for all 22 Army installations and sites in Hawaii, including Schofield Barracks, Fort Shafter, Tripler Army Medical Center, Fort DeRussy, Red Hill and several more.

More than 94,000 service members, military families, retirees and civilians are part of USAG-HI.

Dawson, a Massachusetts native, has previously served in Hawaii from 1997 to 2000 with the 25th Infantry Division.

"Precisely 16 years ago I was here changing command for A Company, 125th Signal Battalion at Helemano Military Reservation," Dawson said. "I'm lucky to find myself leading and serving here again."

In addition, Command Sergeant Major Lisa Piette-Edwards was designated USAG-HI's senior enlisted advisor.
