FOSTER VILLAGE (HawaiiNewsNow) - Roads are open and water service has been restored in Foster Village as of Saturday afternoon.
An eight inch water main that broke Friday afternoon created a large sinkhole in Foster Village, prompting HPD to close the end of Piikea street near the cul-de-sac.
Grace Pacific construction crews apparently were repaving the road at the intersection of Piikea street and Punihi street around 1 p.m. Friday afternoon when the road began to buckle and fountains of water shot out from the ground.
Board of Water Supply officials said vibrations from the construction work could have caused the eight inch water main to rupture.
A water wagon was sent for the approximate 19 residents Friday.
