HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Mother Nature has slammed the brakes on the tradewinds for much of the state.
Kauai is the exception. It will have moderate northeast trades through the weekend.
For the rest of us, winds will be light and variable with afternoon sea breezes, thanks to a disturbance to the northeast.
Those afternoon clouds could also produce some pop-up showers, with a chance of isolated downpours Saturday afternoon. Conditions will be muggy through the weekend before the trade winds start building back in Sunday night.
At the beach, it will be a great weekend for fishing and diving, with your best bet for any waves on the south shore, and only waist-high at best. There is a south swell on the horizon that could bring surf near advisory levels around the middle of next week.
