Hawaii News Now presents a special encore presentation of “Jimmy Borges: A Life Story” tonight at 9 p.m on KHNL. Borges died Monday after a battle with cancer. He was 80 years old.
The hour-long documentary follows the life of the talented and beloved jazz musician. Born in Honolulu, Borges moved to San Francisco with his family in the sixth grade. As a young adult, he decided his passion was singing and performing. Borges performed on stages in San Francisco and Las Vegas for many years before returning home to play at different venues in Hawaii. He eventually landed at Trappers, a Waikiki jazz club, where he performed for 10 years.
The program features performances from throughout his illustrious career, along with interviews with friends, family and Borges himself.
