Local boy Grant Mccartney is a flight attendant for Hawaiian Airlines and recently competed on  NBC's 'American Ninja Warrior' as the only Hawaiian contestant as well as their spin-off show Team Ninja Warrior.

Last year, Mccartney made it to the Vegas finals, narrowing down from 44,000 video submissions to 35 competitors out of 5 regions across the US.
He is back in it again this year competing for the $1,000,000. The show featuring Mccartney airs Wednesday, June 1st at 7pm on NBC. He will be having a Viewing Party at Love One Ministries (670 Auahi St A5, Honolulu, HI 96813) from 6-9pm and the public is welcome to attend.

Also, June 13th airs a new show on NBC called Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge, which also featured the Island Ninja and was filmed last year.
