HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - We have been sharing the story of Jimmy Borges on Sunrise this morning; we have also been sharing the reactions of people like Henry Kapono, Kanaia Nakamura, Amy Gilliom, Kapena DeLima; we also have a picture from the 1970's of Jimmy catching a marlin off of the Kona Coast
Howard Dicus also joins the discussion as we also speak of how Jimmy Borges was the only person given unlimited access to the arrangements of Frank Sinatra's Library.
Grace Lee in our 8:40 report also described talking with Jimmy Borges in one of his last interviews.
Our love and aloha to the Borges Ohana from all of us here on Sunrise. Jimmy's wife Vicki said in a statement:
""We are so very grateful for the love and support we have received from our friends, our community and from Jimmy's fans in Hawaii and throughout the world during these final months of his life. His decision to live his way until the very end was exactly the right thing for Jimmy and both a gift and a lesson for the rest of us.
The family is planning a small, private Catholic Mass per Jimmy's wishes and asks for privacy during this time. There are friends who would like to remember Jimmy in a more public way and those details will be provided at a later time."
