MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Maui firefighters on Sunday rescued a 23-year-old woman who fell approximately 60 feet from a cliff.

Rescue crews responded to reports of a missing female around 4:40 p.m. in an area between the Nakalele blowhole and the Olivine Pools.

Upon arrival, they discovered the woman at the base of a steep cliff, landing on the rocky coastline at the water’s edge.

Firefighters were unable to rappel down due to safety concerns, so a helicopter was dispatched where the woman was safely airlifted to a landing zone on Honoapiilani Highway.

The woman was taken to the Maui Memorial Medical Center in serious condition.
