KIHEI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - An abandoned vehicle caused a brush fire in Kihei, Maui, early Saturday morning.
Maui firefighters were reported of the fire by nearby residents at 2:55 a.m. and arrived at the Hale Piilani park on Kaiwahine street within 15 minutes. The fire was extinguished by 4:48 a.m. after charring just over one acre of land, Maui Fire Department said.
Investigators said the abandon vehicle in the park was likely set on fire and the flames spread to the brush nearby.
