Flash Flood Warning expires for Kauai

PRINCEVILLE, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - [Update 6:30 a.m.]

The Flash Flood Warning that was in effect for Kauai has expired, according to the National Weather Service.

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Kauai on Friday morning, the National Weather Service said.

Locations in the warning include, but are not limited to Princeville, Kilauea, Haena, Wainiha, Moloaa, Hanalei, Wailua Homesteads and Kalihiwai.

The Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 6:30 a.m., but may need to be extended beyond this time.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., radar showed heavy rainfall, about 2 inches per hour, near the mountains. The Hanalei River also reached flood stage, and the Hanalei River Bridge along Kuhio Highway is under an immediate threat of flash flooding.
