Did you know that about 70 percent of jobs in Hawaii will require some college? Whether blue or white collar – our workforce demands much more from our employees to succeed in today's global economy.
That's why it's important we equip our students with the knowledge and readiness to meet their goals and most importantly be able to work here at home, in Hawaii.
The Hawaii Department of Education has done stellar work these past five years earning recognition by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Schools have implemented rigorous standards and are helping far more students receive college credit while still in high school.
Our public education system is continuing to make strategic changes for student success - but all of us play a role in supporting these efforts.
We need to get behind our schools to help them provide high-quality education to our children.
The DOE and Board of Education are updating their strategic plan. I urge you to join the conversation and provide input. Lend your voice to this important effort.
