HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for parts of Maui and the Big Island.
Just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, heavy rain was reported near Ulupalakua on Maui at rates of more than two inches per hour.
- The advisory for Maui includes: Kihei, Kula, Wailea-makena, Keokea, Ulupalakua, Wailea, Maalaea and Makena.
On the Big Island, heavy rain is reported mostly along the Leeward slopes near Kailua-Kona.
- The advisory for the Big Island includes: Kona Village Resort, Saddle Road junction, Puako, Puuanahulu, Waikoloa Beach Resort, Kalaoa and Holualoa.
Forecasters say briefly heavy showers can be expected through the afternoon.
The current Flood Advisory is posted for both Maui and the Big Island until 5:15 p.m., but may be extended if needed.
