Clouds are riding in on locally breezy trade winds, bringing pockets of showers mainly for windward and mauka areas into Monday. The winds may carry some of those showers into leeward areas. The trades will slow just a bit as we get into Tuesday.

Enjoy those trades while you can. A trough is forecast to form north of the state, bringing increased showers for much of the islands Wednesday. It may then overstay its welcome and block the trade winds for the rest of the week, meaning we could have variable winds and afternoon sea breezes, along with afternoon clouds and showers with overnight clearing for several days.

Small Craft Advisory remains posted for the usual windy coastal waters around Maui County and the Big Island. Surf will remain below advisory levels this week, although a small long-period south-southwest swell is possible late this week, peaking Friday.
