Award-winning chefs duke it out in 'Battle of the Chefs' by HFMA

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The Annual TASTE Awards, presented by the Hawaii Food Manufacturers Association (HFMA), will be held on May 21, 2016 at the Hilton Waikiki Beach Hotel on Kuhio. The award ceremony will recognize individuals, companies and products throughout Hawaii that have demonstrated exceptional performance, innovation and contribution to the manufacturing industry and the community.

“It is HFMA’s privilege to honor the 2015 top performers in the food manufacturing industry,” said Bernie Coleman, President of the HFMA board of directors. “Last year’s event hosted over 300 people. This year, we hope to host more and we will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Culinary Institute of the Pacific. We are looking forward to showcasing the best companies, products and their tasty contributions to the state.”

Awards will be presented in 10 categories and finalists from each category were announced earlier in April 2016.  This year marks the largest receipt of award nominations for each category to date.

“We had a great response to the call for nominations and it’s a wonderful mix of small, medium and large businesses throughout the state with all major islands represented.” commented TASTE Chair, Susan Morita.

Holly Kessler, Operations Manager for the Hawaii Food Manufacturers Association said,” The Selection Committee will have their hands full this year in choosing a winner in each category. There are so many extremely deserving companies and products being represented and so many that are strong in their respective fields. We can’t wait to see who wins and recognize them at the TASTE Awards in May.”
