WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police temporarily shut down all lanes of the Ala Wai Boulevard at Seaside Avenue due to a pedestrian accident around 12:15 Saturday afternoon.
Three pedestrians were hurt in the collision, including two people from Las Vegas and a 3-year-old from Japan.
Police say a Le'a Le'a Trolley ran a red light at the intersection of Ala Wai Boulevard and Lewers Street and clipped a stroller with a 3-year-old boy who was in a crosswalk with his parents.
The trolley then struck a Jeep that was turning left onto Ala Wai Boulevard from Lewers Street.
Good Samaritans who heard the impact rushed in to help.
"I approached the little boy to make sure he had a pulse and he had a pulse so that was a good sign. Two minutes in, he woke up and cried," said Charles Delacruz, who witnessed the incident.
The toddler and the two people in the Jeep suffered serious injuries.
Officials at Le'a Le'a Trolley declined to comment on their driver and the investigation.
