PUNA, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - Big Island police identified the two children who were killed in a triple murder in Puna.
The victims were identified as 7-year-old Clara Hoffman and 5-year-old John Hoffman. Both are the biological children of 49-year-old John Ali Hoffman, the accused murderer, and Aracely Hoffman, the suspect's wife since 2008.
Court documents show that the suspect, John A. Hoffman, had called police before 2 a.m. on Friday, May 6, to say that three to four intruders were in his home and had shot his wife. Responding officers later caught him driving off the property with his wife's body in his trunk. She was found with a gunshot to her head.
Authorities also found the two children in the living room with gunshots to the head.
Hoffman is charged with first-degree murder, three counts of second-degree murder and a firearms charge. His bail is set at $2.75 million.
