NANAKULI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Friends and family of a former Kamehameha Schools football player killed in a hit-and-run crash in Nanakuli had spent some time putting together a makeshift memorial filled with jerseys, helmets and other belongings, but all of that was stolen, they said.

Kaulana Werner’s family members said Monday morning, they discovered that all that was left of the memorial on Farrington Highway was a cinder block and a few decorations. They later found his belongings not far from the memorial site.

The 19-year-old was killed by a suspected drunk driver just feet from his Nanakuli home on April 24. His funeral is set for Saturday, May 14.
