Ask the Mayor: Ewa Beach ambulance, HPD chief, Ala Moana, homelessness, rail, re-election

Ask the Mayor - Segment 1

Mayor Kirk Caldwell is here this morning for our monthly ask the mayor segment.

"The Ewa Beach ambulance closes from midnight to noon every day. So, if someone calls 911, they have to wait for a responding ambulance from Waipahu, Makakilo, or maybe farther. Doesn't the Ewa Beach community deserve 24 hour ambulance coverage just like every other community on Oahu?"

"What did you think when you saw police Chief Louis Kealoha going on the offensive about the federal grand jury and ethics probes?"

(Segment 2)

"Your office has been getting a lot of questions about the plans for Ala Moana.. What's the main thing people have been asking about?"

"People also want an update on the homelessness situation and affordable housing."

"There's a story in the star-advertiser today discussing whether the rail project needs another environmental study to address concerns about tsunamis, storm surges and sea-level rise. Do you have any concerns?"

Last week you officially filed your paperwork for your reelection campaign. Do you think any potential contenders would be able to mount an effective campaign at this point?
